Olive Cook - (Click on Picture for a larger image)
Cook described herself as a "painter by inclination", and indeed her art training was derived from an intimate association with the Old Masters while working at the National Gallery, and a fortnight’s course at Sir Cedric Morris's Benton End. Much better known as a writer, her work as an artist does reflect a deeply held passion, as well as a profound intellectual grasp of the subject.
Olive Cook was a founder member of the Fry Art Gallery, and was married to Edwin Smith (qv)
