Audrey Cruddas(Click on Picture for a larger image)1912 - 1979
Audrey Cruddas was born in Johannesburg in 1912 and was educated in England where she attended the St John's Wood Art School, the Byam Shaw and the Royal Academy Schools. While convalescing from the effects of arduous work in the Land Army she created costume designs for Mabeth and A Midsummer Night's Dream which were seen by Robert Helpmann and led on to her designing for many theatres including the Old Vic and Covent Garden She retired to Great Bardfield in the late 1950s before moving to Botesdale, Suffolk.
